North Goa Veterans beat South Goa Veterans 3-0 to clinch the United Club of Utorda Lourdes Festival football title.
The teams displayed good football skills in front of a festival crowd. North Goa Veterans drew first blood in the 28th minute through Servino Lobo. At the lemon break, the score was 1-0. North Goa Veterans scored the second goal, capitalising on a defensive lapse by Seby Fernandes. Michael Dias tripled the tally off a fine pass Atul Naik.
Chief guest Thaddeus Soares gave away the prizes and trophies in the presence of guest of honour Fr Arvino Fernandes, Nicholas D Sousa, Denver Barretto, Brauleo Soares and Celso Soares. President of UC Utorda, Liberata Fernandes welcomed the gathering, Anthony Pereira and Shawn Pereira compered the event coordinated by Remy Pereira, Tony V Fernandes, Pascoal Vaz, Jhonny Gomes and Tony LC Fernandes.
Secretary Trindade Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks. Jeremy Miranda was the referee and Anjulo Fernandes and Mario Gomes were the assistant referees.
Awards: First scorer - Shervin Lobo (North Goa Veterans), Best goalkeeper - Bharat Morje (North Goa Veterans), Best player - Francis Andrade (South Goa Veterans).
