After winning four matches on the bounce, Priority Titans on Saturday lost their first match in the ongoing PGML 2.0, losing to minnows Baale Tigers even as the Titans face off against league leaders Manas Mavericks in the league’s Qualifier-1 match on Sunday.
Bottom-rung teams Baale Tigers and RC Goa have been knocked out of contention in the T20 tournament, whose league phase ended on Saturday.
Priority Titans opted to bat after winning the toss but were bowled out for a paltry 98 runs in 17.1 overs, thanks to an impressive spell of bowling by the Baale Tigers captain Shushrut Nasnodkar, who took 3-9 in three overs. Titans' opening batsman Muktiar Kadri top-scored with a quickfire 34 in 14 balls, before Nasnodkar knocked the stuffing out of their innings.
Baale Tigers’ openers Kapil Angle and Nasnodkar then put up an opening partnership of 86 runs, scoring 38 and 35 respectively to set up an easy victory for the Tigers. Despite the win, the Baale Tigers languish at the bottom of the six-team league with just one win in five games. Nasnodkar was adjudged the Man of the match for his stellar all-round performance.
Priority Titans will now face off against Manas Mavericks in Qualifier-1 while Dempo Challengers and Prescon Panthers will face each other in the Eliminator-2 round on Sunday.
