Arlem Youth Association played out a goalless draw with Our Lady of Gloria Sports Club, Ilha de Rachol in their Group E match of Salcete Zone GFA Third Division League, at Panchayat ground, Raia on Saturday.
Alrem were the dominant side in the opening session and had a great chance to surge ahead in the 20th minute but striker Steven Colaco shot wide from handshaking distance. At the other hand, the Gloria lads took time to settle down and once they settled into a rhythm they stitched together good moves to threaten the Arlem fortress. Just before the half-time, an adventurous Raymond Colaco then unleashed a snap shot which sailed over the Gloria cross bar.
After the break, the OL Gloria lads put up a better show and their forwards troubled the rival defence with well-coordinated moves. They nearly broke the deadlock midway in the second half but Jesborn Fernandes' rasping shot was blocked by the Arlem goalkeeper. Despite some good attacking action at Raia, the match-deciding goal never came.
