Hosts KJs Sports and Cultural Club, Miramar outplayed YMCA Knights, Panjim 78-55 in the final of the Battle of the Ballers Basketball Tournament at Youth Hostel, Miramar.
YMCA drew first blood by taking an early lead 19-9 through Shaun (18 points) and Jayden (17 points). KJs responded through a blitzkrieg of 3-pointers from Shiva (26 points) and Bharat (16 points). KJs ballhandler Arun (19 points) assisted them by regularly penetrating the YMCA defence.
In the Women's section, Sonics Girls went down fighting to YMCA Infiknights 34-40. In the first half, the game was neck and neck with both teams equally matching each others scoring 24-25 but in the second half, Infiknights pulled away and held on to win.
Amisha (21) Rachel (8) were the top scorers for YMCA Infiknights while Shimei fought well for Sonic with 14 points.
The prizes were given away by Chief Guest Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho who also felicitated ex-players of KJs Club and promised to give all the help possible to improve Goan Basketball.
