A new book titled 'My Take on Sports' written by Goa-based author Rohit Bhandiye will hit the stands in June. The foreword for the book has been written by Olympic medallist badminton star Saina Nehwal.

The book deals with articles on popular sports such as cricket, football and hockey. Besides this, emphasis has also been given to other sports as well like tennis, badminton, formula one, wrestling, chess and swimming. Big names of each sport have been discussed along with their role during their active period in respective sports.

Cricket is undoubtedly India’s most loved sport and one of its global identities, but this book has covered a wide range of other sports that are followed in our country. Besides this, multi-sport events such as Olympic Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Afro Asian Games, Lusofonia Games and National Games have found space in the book. There is also a special section on ‘Goa in Sports’ and has articles related to Goan sports and sportspersons.

The book covers various topics pertaining to Indian sports ranging crisis in Indian tennis to working of BCCI, Indian badminton scenario to formula one’s impact on India, India’s football standard to lack of sports culture in the country. The book has been published by Broadway.

Bhandiye is a computer engineer with a degree in management from Goa Institute of Management. He has more than 10 years of experience in the IT industry. Rohit has been a sports columnist for various publications. This is his maiden book and is an anthology of sports columns written by the young writer in various print media of Goa.
