Big Snooker League, a one of its kind snooker league, will see cueists from the State and country battle for a pot of
` 50,000. The event will commence at Crucible, Mapusa on June 12. The finals will be held on June 19.
Forty players will participate and the winner will take away a cash prize of
` 50,000. The event will follow all the national snooker rules and guidelines. The chief referee will be Satish Karad (Pune), who is also a national championship referee. The guest referee for the semi-finals and the finals will be Nicholas D’Souza from Navelim (past national referee). The participation is from different parts of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa and Madhya Pradesh.
The Big Snooker League 2017 is conceptualized by Rahul Talkar, an event manager specialising in sports events, who has been successfully organising pool championship for the last three years at Tito’s Courtyard.
This league has been organised with an intent of motivating Goa’s existing players and to provide an open platform for the new players across the State and country. The event is the first of its kind in Goa’s snooker history. Crucible, located near Cine Alankar, Mapusa, is a certified venue for the State ranking tournaments, owned by Sarvesh Kolwalkar, who also represents Goa in snooker at the
national level.
