Sesa FA continued their great start to the Geno-GFA 1st Division League with a comprehensive 5-0 win over Cuncolim Union, while Salgaocar Juniors emerged victorious against a strong Dempo SC Juniors, on Wednesday.
Olvin Cardozo scored four goals to take his goal tally to seven in just two matches to seal three points for SFA at Sirsaim ground. Sesa FA have six points from two matches while Cuncolim Union are on one point. The first hour of the game was full of energy with both teams creating chances and having good spells of possession.
The deadlock was broken by the leading goal-scorer of the club and the league, as Olvin scored in the 31st minute after a brilliant through-ball was finished into a goal by the striker. Right before the half time SFA players dominated possession, and allowed Olvin to score a brilliant team goal. It was a tap-in for the number 10 of the club. Olvin scored twice after 14 minutes into the second half with a brilliant display of individual skill. He sprinted past an unorganised backline of Cuncolim defenders, who failed to put him in an off-side trap to complete his hat-trick in the game. It was also his second consecutive hat-trick in the league.
Olvin scored again after SFA won back possession in less than 2 minutes after the goal was scored. Olvin registered his fourth goal of the day before he was substituted by the head coach. Ashley scored in the 78th minute after a good cross. Olvin was named the man-of-the match, his second consecutive award in the league.
At Ella ground, Prajat Mondal scored the lone goal of the game as Salgaocar FC Juniors beat Dempo Sports Club Juniors. Dempo have now lost two straight games and are on three points from three games while Salgaocar FC Juniors are on four points from two outings. Salgaocar keeper bagged the man-of-the match award.
In another match at Rosary ground, Navelim, a brilliant first half performance enabled AA de Moira score a fluent 2-0 win over United Club of Telaulim. Both the goals were scored in the first 45 minutes. Llyod Mascarenhas opened the scoring in the 23rd minute and Rohit Tatad doubled the account in the 38th minute. AA de Moira have four points and UC Telaulim are yet to open their account.
At Poriat ground, Calangute, St Savio Sports Club scripted their first win in the league with a comfortable 3-0 win over Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao. A collective team performance enabled the winners to take an early lead in the 23rd minute through Richard Cardozo. St Savio SC led 1-0 at the break. Crossing over, Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao struggled to match their opponents and conceded two late goals. Nevil Rodrigues and Chaitan Dhabolkar scored in the final quarter of the game to grab their first three points of the season. St Savio SC are now on four points while Clube Sao Miguel stay on three points.
At Ambelim ground, Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim scored a 3-1 win over Curtorim Gymkhana. Joel Dias scored a fine brace for Cavelossim and was rightly adjudged the Man-of-the-Match. Darren Peixoto was the other goal-scorer. Cliff Barreto managed to pull a goal back for Curtorim Gymkhana. At Raia ground, Francis Andrade scored a 76th minute equalising goal for Youth Club of Manora as they held Goa Police to a 1-1 draw.
