Chapora Yuvak Sangh managed to edge past Sangolda Lightning by 3-2 margin in the GFA’s 3rd Division League-play-off played at Duler grounds here on Sunday.

Chapora colts went into the breather with a two

goals lead.

In the very 5th minute Chapora opened their account where a low cross by Marvoti Harijan was smartly headed into the Sangolda goal by Pundalik Naik, 1-0.

Chapora doubled their lead in the 23rd minute where a 30-yard free kick by Aksham Shirodkar sneaked past the Sangolda’s defensive wall to make it 2-0. Six minutes later Sangolda had an opportunity to pull a goal when Suhas collected a through pass by Macau Pereira but shot wide.

On crossing over in the 53rd minute Uday Naik controlling a pass from Myron finished it into the back of Chapora nylons, 2-1. Chapora were back in action to net in their third goal where Nehal Parsekar picked up a through pass from Marvoti and beat the onrushing Sangolda keeper with a neat placement, 3-1.

Never say die spirit saw Sangolda get back into the match with Suhas Kambli making it 3-2 with an adroit placement. Man of the match award was received by Chapora’s Akshay Shirodkar.
