MARGAO
Sairaj Dilip Vernekar won the second prize in U-15 category at the All India Open Fide Rating Rapid chess championship organised by Innovative Chess Academy in Bengaluru.
In all, 383 players from India, USA and Canada participated in the tournament. Sairaj drew with top seed, Grand Master Roy Chowdhary Saptrishi of West Bengal on first board in the second round. Ritviz Parab of Goa finished eighth in the Open category.
In all, 4 Grand Masters, 14 International Masters and 14 Fide Masters participated in the tournament, which was won by International Master Sameed Jaykumar Shete of Maharashtra.
Goa TT team for senior nationals
The Goa Table Tennis Team will participate at the 83rd Senior National & Inter State Table Tennis Championships to be held in Shillong from April 18 to 25. Squad: Men's - Dheeraj Rai, Khushal Naik, Manish Yadav, Selvyn Godinho & Vedant Kulkarni; Ladies - Aditi Chodankar, Anushka Hammanavar, Anushree Naik, Prutha Parrikar & Samaira Soares.
