Chinchinim Angels registered a comfortable victory over Skyla Strikers as they beat them 2-0 in the Sevens Women’s Football Festival organised by Goa Sevens and Ambelim Sports Club, played at Ambelim Sports Complex, Ambelim on Sunday.
Marlat Cardozo scored both the goals to help Chinchinim Angels to register their third win. Chinchinim Angels looked the better side from the start. Velanie Fernandes of Chinchinim Angels had the first shot on goal but her shot hit the crossbar.
Skyla Strikers’ Avia Vaz had the first shot on goal for her team but was kept out brilliantly by Chinchinim Angels goalie Joseline D’souza. Chinchinim Angels’ Velanie Fernandes missed yet another chance to get her name on the scoresheet as she hit the crossbar yet again.
Post resumption, Avia Vaz had a good chance to put Skyla Strikers in front but again Chinchinim Angels goalkeeper Joseline D’souza came up with a fine save to deny Avia. Moments later, Marlat Cardozo broke the deadlock after her shot crashed into the top left corner of
the goal.
Despite several efforts from Skyla Strikers, none could find the back of the net. Marlat Cardozo netted yet another goal after she slotted the ball into the bottom left corner past the goalkeeper.
