Churchill Brothers Sports Club staged a powerful performance and emerged victorious against Calangute Association with a commendable scoreline of 6-0 in the GFA's Under 20 Taca Goa League at Cansaulim Sports Complex, on Thursday. Churchill Bros led 3-0 at half time.
The highlight of the day was a brilliant hat-trick by Arjun. In what was a one- sided affair,the Reds clearly dominated the match and gave Calangute lads a tough time and hence were not able to score even a single goal in the match. Churchill Brothers proved to be immensely strong and tight throughout the match.
In the early stages, Churchill Brothers took the lead in very 2nd minute when striker Aldrich Coelho beat the rival goalkeeper with neat finish. The second goal also came in the 10th minute. Aldrich Coelho picked up the ball from his own half and unleashed a volley which crashed into the net.
Churchill Brothers' third goal was scored by Arjun in the 36th minute.The Reds were enjoying majority possession of the ball and were looking to score more goals against their rivals. They did so after change of ends when Arjun converted a brilliant shot in the 49th minute. Thereafter, there was no stopping for Churchill Brothers as they continued to press forward with intention to score more goals against the Calangute side that was low on confidence. In the 72nd minute, Arjun registered his hat-trick. Gurudev Singh added his name on the scorers'list in the injury time.
