The election process of Cuncolim Union has taken an interesting turn, with all ten candidates for the Managing Committee being declared elected unopposed, while a direct contest will decide the next president of the organisation.
According to the final list of candidates released by the Election Committee on October 15, 2026, Pandit Dessai and Sammy Tavares are the two candidates in the fray for the post of president.
The election for the president's post is scheduled to be held on October 25, from 9 am to 2 pm. Counting of votes will follow, after which the results will be declared.
As there are only ten vacancies for the Managing Committee and the final list contains ten candidates, no ballot election is required for the committee posts. The Election Committee has accordingly declared all ten candidates elected unopposed.
The ten members elected unopposed to the Managing Committee are Daryl Brian Baptista, Leo Moraes, Mario Coutinho, Nilesh P. Kunde, Oscar Martins, Sandesh Naik, Santosh Soporlo Dessai, Shrikant Mono Naik, Siano Luke Fernandes and Vijaykumar Kopre.
With the Managing Committee decided without a contest, attention now shifts to the presidential election, in which members will choose between Pandit Dessai and Sammy Tavares.
