FC Goa are set to sign Iranian centre-back Hadi Mohammadi, according to reports. Sources confirmed that the 29-year-old has agreed to a year's deal with the option of extending it further.

"A deal has been agreed," a source was quoted as saying by Transfermarkt. "The signing should be completed within a day or two."

Mohammadi walked his way up through the youth teams in Iran before making his professional debut with Damash Gilan FC in 2012. Following their relegation in 2014, the defender moved to Zob Ahan Esfahan where he remained till date excluding the two seasons he spent on loan to Tractor FC between 2016-18.

With the FSDL making one player from the Asian Football Confederation nations mandatory in the ISL, players from Australia and Iran are in demand. Kerala Blasters FC were also reportedly interested in Mohammadi but a much better offer from FC Goa sealed the deal in their favour, the website reported.

The Zob Ahan player thereby becomes the fifth foreigner for the Gaurs, joining the likes of Edu Bedia, Jorge Ortiz, Igor Angulo and Iván González. The official announcement of the signing is likely to come through soon.
