MARGAO: Fr Agnel Paroda stormed into the quarterfinals of the 27th All Goa Our Lady of Merces Inter-Village Football Tournament with a clinical 3-1 victory over Cuncolim Union.
After a tightly contested and goalless first half, Paroda found their rhythm after the break and took the lead in the 34th minute. Rayan Menezes confidently converted a penalty after Cuncolim defender Aaron Fernandes was penalised for handling the ball inside the box.
The breakthrough sparked Paroda into life, and they doubled their advantage just three minutes later when Steve Menezes found the net in the 37th minute. Steve struck again in the 44th minute to complete his brace and put his side firmly in control with a 3-0 lead.
Cuncolim Union pulled one back in the 55th minute through Daulat Dessai, but the goal proved to be only a consolation as Fr Agnel Paroda maintained their composure and comfortably saw out the remainder of the match.
