The Goa Football Association (GFA) president Dr Caetano Fernandes has extended full support for the development of grassroots football and has urged future football coaches to give equal chances to upcoming talent in the state.
Caetano was speaking at the concluding ceremony of the AFC D License coaching course conducted by the association under the guidance of All India Football Federation (AIFF) at Duler Football Stadium, Mapusa, on Saturday. “I love football. It is a religion in Goa. I urge the future coaches to give kids an equal chance to showcase their talent and motivate them all the time,” said Caetano.
A total of 24 coaches took part in the six-day programme conducted by AIFF coach educator Mario Aguiar. It included theory as well as practical sessions.
“It is really good to see diverse participation from coaches. It is never too late to fall in love with football. I hope the upcoming coaches excel to do their best and also upgrade their licenses,” said GFA vice-president Jonathan De Souza.
“On behalf of the AIFF, I thank the GFA. The coach students were very punctual, disciplined and were eager to learn. With this team (GFA), I’m sure Goan football will be back on top for sure," said Mario.
Stadium manager Anthony Lobo was instrumental in conducting the course along with Ramu and Deepak. GFA technical committee chairman Cosme Oliveira was also present for the closing ceremony.
