Goa registered a comprehensive 146-run victory over Jammu & Kashmir in the Colonel C.K. Nayudu (Under-23, four-day) Elite Cricket Tournament on Sunday, wrapping up the match within just three days. The match was played at the Hostel Ground in Jammu.
Chasing a target of 267 runs for victory, Jammu & Kashmir were bowled out for just 120 runs in 30.1 overs in their second innings. Manish Kakode, who had taken six wickets in the first innings, delivered another outstanding performance in the second innings, claiming 5 wickets for 28 runs.
Resuming from 24 without loss Goa were all out for 192 runs in 71 overs in their second innings. First-innings centurion Shaantanu Nevagi scored 64 runs off 122 balls, hitting eight fours. Opener Sarthak Bhike contributed 34 runs, Dishank Misquin remained unbeaten on 20, and Manish Kakode added 19 runs. For Jammu & Kashmir, Praful Dhar was the most successful bowler, taking 6 wickets for 53 runs.
Jammu & Kashmir were expected to put up resistance in their second innings, but Yash Kasvankar struck on the very first ball of the innings, trapping opener Basit Nazir leg-before-wicket. The other opener, Aakash Bhat, was also dismissed without scoring. Arnav Gupta fought a lone battle with a well-made 52 runs. Contributions from Rydham (18) and Basit Bashir (18) helped the team cross the 100-run mark.
For Goa, Manish Kakode took 5 wickets for 28 runs, Yash Kasvankar picked up 3 for 26, and Samarth Rane claimed 2 for 40. Overall, Manish finished the match with impressive figures of 11 wickets for 77 runs.
,In the first innings, Goa had scored 286 runs. In reply, Jammu & Kashmir were bowled out for 207, but their total was later adjusted to 212 due to five penalty runs awarded to them.
