Panaji: The Goa Super Bodies Powerlifting Association is set to host the 33rd National Bench Press Championship 2024. The event will take place at Ravindra Bhavan, located at Baina Beach in Vasco-da-Gama. This championship, in collaboration with Ravindra Bhavan, will feature both male and female athletes competing in various categories: Sub-Junior, Junior, Senior, and Master levels.
The competition has attracted significant interest, with 1,021 athletes from 30 states participating in both classic and equipped divisions. Among them, 719 lifters will compete with equipped gear, supported by 97 officials to ensure everything runs smoothly.
The goal of this championship is to promote powerlifting in Goa and inspire local youth to engage in the sport. With such a large number of participants, this event is expected to make history and mark an important moment for Goa in the national powerlifting arena.
The weight categories for the competition range from 59 kg to 120+ kg for men and 47 kg to 84+ kg for women.
