Don’t divide people in Shivaji’s name

Shivaji Maharaj was a revered hero of India and a great Maratha warrior. In Maharashtra, his legacy is honoured in every household for his sacrifices and love for his people.

However, in Goa today, his name is being used for divisive purposes, with groups spending large sums on roadside statues instead of helping poor Hindu families in need of shelter, food, and clothing.

If Shivaji Maharaj were alive, he would prefer people to assist the needy in his name rather than waste resources on statues that cause unrest. He united his people, regardless of religion, and would oppose those trying to divide them.

Today, some individuals are distorting history and creating tension for personal gain. Instead of addressing joblessness, politicians exploit the unemployed, offering small bribes to stir protests.

Outsiders are fueling discord, showing no respect for Goa's religious harmony. True tribute to Shivaji Maharaj lies in honoring his legacy with unity, not through actions that tarnish his name.
