The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Goa, will organise a three-day Capacity Building Workshop on Applied Sports Science titled “Bridging Science & Sports” from August 3 to 5. The workshop will be held at the Dayanand Bandodkar Krida Sankool, Indoor Stadium, Peddem–Mapusa. The initiative aims to strengthen scientific coaching practices and enhance athlete development through evidence-based sports science.
Bringing science to the forefront of coaching, the workshop will feature expert sessions by eminent sports scientists, academicians and medical professionals from leading institutions across the country. Participants will receive practical exposure to exercise physiology, sports psychology, biomechanics, sports medicine, nutrition, injury prevention, performance monitoring, recovery, ethics and athlete welfare through lectures, live demonstrations, hands-on sessions, case studies and panel discussions.
Promoting science-driven coaching, the workshop will focus on modern training methods, scientific planning, hydration and recovery strategies suited to Goa’s climatic conditions. It will also encourage knowledge sharing and professional networking among coaches, physical education teachers and sports professionals. Participants will receive resource materials and certificates on completion.
The inaugural programme will be attended by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant as the Chief Guest, Minister for Sports Dr. Ramesh Tawadkar as the Guest of Honour, Secretary (Sports) Santosh Sukhadeve, IAS, and Director of Sports & Youth Affairs and Executive Director, Sports Authority of Goa, Dr. Ajay R. Gaude, along with sports scientists, coaches, physical education teachers and other distinguished guests.
