Opting to bat first against DCA (u-14), Sportsweek CC were restricted to 97/7 in the allotted 20 overs. the consistent Jarvis Faleiro (28) played a sheet anchor innings against the strong bowling side.
He was well-supported by Dewan Chittem (17). Vishnu, Adiitya, Pawan and Ganesh captured one wicket each for DCA (u-14). DCA were off to a solid start with their openers Ambarish (26) and Satvik (10) raising 41 in good time. But with the introduction of Subhav Borkar (4/12) into the attack the innings lost momentum.
Prajeeth (14*) was left stranded as wickets fell at regular intervals at the other end with the home side falling well-short on 77/7. Shrey Singh, Dewan Chittem and Rudresh Sharma claimed a wicket each for Sportsweek. Meanwhile, in another 20-over match, a strong DCA (u-16) side did well to restrict the in-form MCA batting unit to 97/7.
Playing a captain’s knock, Kaushal Singh compiled a well-made unconquered 52 with Tanuj Khandekar (28) supporting him well. Off-spinner Sai was the pick of the DCA (u-16) bowlers with 5/20. In reply, it looked like the Hyderabadi side would take the match away with Akhil (17) and Balraj (27) batting well. But MCA’s Omprakash Lenka (2/10) and Rishikesh Desai (1/9) bowled economically to bowl out DCA (u-16) for 91 by the end of the 19th over.
MCA played 7 matches and won 5 while Sportsweek played 8 matches and won 6 in a successful exposure tour.
