PanajirrRahul, who is planning his first, Mt Everest expedition in April 2018, had climbed the Mt Mera (21,500 ft) peak in the Nepal Himalayas in the month of May this year. For the Stok Kangri expedition, Rahul was part of the technical team of the ‘Trek the Himalayas’ company. In a press release issued on Saturday, Rahul said that the Stok Kangri was India’s highest trekking peak, but adverse weather conditions often made it a very challenging peak to climb.rAccording to Rahul, continuous snowfall and rain made the climbing difficult. rOn the night of July 1, the young Margao based mountaineer led a batch of nine climbers to the summit. r“Conditions demanded use of rope to ensure climber safety and we were required to cut steps in the ice along the major climbing section. Leaving at 10.30pm from base camp, we summited at 5.30am just in time for the magnificent sunrise,” Rahul said.

Rahul Prabhudesai, Goa’s young mountaineer has added another feather to his cap by scaling Stok Kangri peak (20,157 feet) in the Ladakh Himalayas on July 2 for the second time in his mountaineering career.
