Immaculate Conception Sports Club (ICSC) Paroda registered a 3-1 win over St Anthony's Sports Club, Colva to romp into the semi-final of All Goa Varca Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Varca Sports Club at Varca grounds, on Friday. ICSC led 1-0 at the break.
Immaculate Conception Sports Club started the match in an aggressive fashion as their forwards repeatedly raided the rival goal but were unlucky as their efforts either went straight into the safe hands of goalkeeper or missed the mark narrowly.Persistent forays paid dividends and in the 26th minute,Selwyn Fernandes slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
At the other end, a lot was expected from St Anthony's Sports Club,Colva who today looked jaded and failed to functioned as a cohesive unit.
Post resumption, Immaculate Conception Sports Club continued to enjoy the better share of exchanges and fired a couple shots against the rival goal.Manush Olveira doubled the lead and after restart beat the rival goalkeeper with a swift shot.
With time running out, St Anthony's Club scored the consolation goal late in the second half when Maxon Fernandes headed home off a well executed flagkick taken by Clifford Fernandes. Micky Vaz of St Anthony's Sports Club was adjudged man of the match.
