Infant Jesus Colva made their way into the quaterfinals, defeating St Aloysius Benaulim 2-0 in the Sir Jawaharlal Da Costa Under-14 Inter School Football Tournament organised by United Sports Club of Seraulim at the Base Seraulim.
Infant Jesus scored a brace through Ralston Fernandes. Fr Agnel Ashram Verna beat Vidya Vikas Margao 3-1 while Perpetual Succor Navelim defeated St Mary's Varca 2-1. St Mary's Varca and St Francis Xavier Macazana drew 2-2. In the girls' match, Presentation Convent HS defeated St Anthony's HS Majorda 2-1.
St Anthony down Cuncolim Union on penalties
St Anthony Club prevailed over Cuncolim Union 5-3 to move into the quaterfinals of the Varca Panchayat Cup on Wednesday.
After a goalless draw, the result was decided through penalties. In the tiebreaker, St Anthony Club scored through Dylan Lourenco, Franslam Correiro, Baptist Fernandes, Kabir Khan and Francis Dausvon while Cuncolim Union converted through Jollyston Fernandes, Wilson Fernandes and Rosario Carvalho. Kabir Khan of St Anthony Club was adjudged the Man of the match.
CAC Cansaulim draw with Murugan YFA
Murugan Youth Football Academy, Chennai drew with Goa's CAC, Cansaulim 1-1 in the first match of the Boys U-15 Youth Festival organised by Salgaocar FC at Panchayat ground, Chicalim. Siva Prakash scored for Murugan off a brilliant freekick while Jonathan was at hand to score a beautiful goal for Cansaulim. In the other matches, Salgaocar FC drew goalless with Murugan YFA and later CAC Cansaulim also drew goalless with Salgaocar FC. Coaches Kartik, Vijaykumar of Chennai, Cansaulim's Jude Baretto and Salgaocar FC's Cajetan, Ramesh and Jonathan Faleiro guided the young boys during the festival.
RFYS season concludes at Utorda
The Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) football season 2022-23, which began in September 2022, concluded at the Utorda Sports Complex earlier this month. The tournament, which ran for over five months across various regions, registered participation of more than 26,000 young footballers from around 2,400+ teams, in boys and girls categories. The season kicked off with a new format that featured a league and playoff round hosted across the country in the States of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Goa, Mizoram, Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Telangana, Karnataka and Assam. RFYS also announced a grant of Rs 35 lacs which will be given to around 200 teams for their winning and runners-up performance this year.
