Hosts Goa made a slow start to their first innings and scored 197 for 5 on the opening day against Bengal in the Under 19 Cooch Behar four-day cricket match at Porvorim Cricket Academy grounds, on Saturday.
Goa won the toss and decided to bat and lost opener Vaibhav Govenkar cheaply for 4.Ishan Gadekar took a firm grip and scored a quick-fire 56. He hit two to the fence along with Kashyap Bakhale who contributed a valuable 39 for the second wicket. After the departure of Ishan with the team’s total at 102 - Deepraj Gaokar and Suyash Prabhdesai fell cheaply. At the draw of stumps Tunish Sawkar (44*, 132 b, 3x4) and Aditya Suryavanshi (8*) were at the crease and had added 20 runs for the sixth wicket. For Bengal, Shaikh Asif Hossain bagged 2 while Ishan Porel and A Mishra took a wicket each.
