In an exciting semi-final clash played on Sunday, United Club of Verna registered a commanding 6-0 victory over St Savio Sports Club, Calangute, to move into the final of the 34th St Rocks Super Soccer at Majorda ground.
The match began on a lively note, and United Club wasted no time in taking control. In the 18th minute, Meldon Moniz opened the scoring for Verna, giving his side an early 1-0 lead. Just two minutes later, Jesloy Moniz doubled the advantage in the 20th minute with a fine finish.
St Savio had a chance to pull one back in the 23rd minute through a direct free-kick, but the opportunity went in vain. United Club continued their attacking display, and in the 25th minute, Shelton Pereira netted the third goal to make it 3-0.
Verna further strengthened their grip just before the break, as Jesloy Moniz brilliantly dribbled past three defenders to score the fourth goal in the 45th minute.
The second half saw no respite for St Savio, as United Club of Verna continued their dominance. Jesloy Moniz once again found the net to score the fifth goal and complete his well-deserved hat-trick. Meldon Moniz then added the sixth goal in the 55th minute, sealing a comprehensive victory for United Club of Verna.
At full time, the scoreboard read 6-0 in favour of United Club of Verna, who now march confidently into the final.
