Loyola HS Margao and Perpetual Succour Convent HS Navelim made it to the finals of the U-14 Salcete Taluka Subroto Mukherjee boys inter-school football tournament played at Dramapur football ground.
In the first semis, Loyola HS defeated The King’s School of Sao Jose de Areal 2-1. Andreas Furtado and Shelloyd Sequeira scored for Loyola while the only goal for King’s School was scored by Elrad Braganza.
In the second semis, Perpetual Succour thrashed Savior of the World HS of Loutolim 5-0. Ashnoy Vaz, Jess Menezees, Royden Carvalho, Cain Fernandes and Kiean Rebello netted a goal each for Perpetual Succour.
International Chess Day celebrated
PANAJI: Lions Club of Ponda in association with Ponda Taluka Chess Association celebrated the International Chess Day at Lions KG and Primary School, Ponda by distributing chess sets to school children on July 20. Children develop qualities like logical reasoning, strategic planning and patience by playing chess every day.
Rainforest Challenge India kicks off
Offroad motorsport event Rainforest Challenge (RFC) India commenced in Goa on Saturday. Organized by Delhi-based Cougar Motorsport, the 9th edition of the event has 21 teams, consisting of some of the best off-roaders from across the country. The winners of the competition will be announced on July 29 and the top Indian driver of RFC India 2023 will win a free entry to the RFC Global Series 2023 Finale to be held in Malaysia at the end of the year.
Tennis-ball cricket team trials
Goa Tennis Ball Cricket Association will conduct 3rd and final stage selection trials to select Goa teams for the 31st Junior National Tennis Ball Cricket Championship for boys & girls to be held at Srinagar, J&K from September 25-28. The trials will be held on July 26 at Panchayat ground, Khola, Canacona at 3.30 pm, on July 27 at DSYA ground, Parye, Sattari at 3.30 pm, and on July 28 at Suresh Raina ground, Tuem, Pernem at 3.30 pm. Interested players need to report to Kirtan Vaiz at Canacona, Virendra Majik at Parye, Sattari and Kishore Kinlekar at Pernem with a copy of Aadhaar card and Birth Certificate, and a complete playing kit.
