Guardian Angel Sports Club Curchorem won comfortably with a 3-1 win over Goa Velha Sports Club to move into the next round of the 23rd Vagator Soccer 2023 organised by Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club, at Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club Ground on Saturday.
Guardian Angel took the lead in the 17th minute when Godwin D'costa dribbled his way through the Goa Velha defence to cross to his teammate Jovito Dias, who had to just tap in. In the 19th minute, Guardian Angel doubled their lead when a quick attack starting from the back, wherein Fedrich Fernandes put a through ball to Godwin D'Costa, who found the back of the nets. Within a few minutes, Goa Velha's Nikesh Mangueshkar scored from a corner taken by Joseph Rodrigues.
Later in the game, Jovito Dias of Guardian Angel had an opportunity to score but Goa Velha goalkeeper Sairaj Chodankar denied him the chance. Just before the final whistle, Godwin D'costa made it 3-1 when Goa Velha goalkeeper Sairaj Chodankar made a goalkeeping error as the ball slipped through his gloves and went in.
The man-of-the-match prize was awarded to Godwin D'Costa of Guardian Angel Sports Club Curchorem by Sudesh Parsekar.
