Maccabi Juniors, Goa beat Voody Boys 2-0 to emerge champions of All Goa 5-a-side football tournament organised by Maccabi Juniors at Bulls Arena, Nagoa Ground.
Both the teams displayed attacking football and had equal scoring chances but their forwards failed to capitalise on the chances.
After the breather, Maccabi Juniors made an energetic start and made it count when Danstan Fernandes slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot. However, any hopes from Voody Boys were extinguished by Maccabi and couple of minutes to the whistle, Frenden Pires sealed the rival fate with a stiff shot. Voody Boys went all out but their efforts were nullified by the rival defenders. Maccabi Juniors were richer by Rs 40,000 while Voody Boys had to settle for Rs 30,000. Ozen Silva of Maccabi was adjudged best goalkeeper while Alston Camotim was adjudged man of the match. Nigel Fernandes was the top scorer of the tournament.
Former International Alvito D’Cunha was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Guest of Honour, Fr Americo Rodrigues and Royston Gonsalves.
