A brilliant innings by Sankalp Prabhu (pictured below) powered United Cricket Club to a commanding 100-run victory over Vijay Cricket Club in the 43rd Nanda Lolayekar Trophy, organised by Mashem Cricket Club at the Club Ground in Mashem, Canacona.
Vijay Cricket Club won the toss and opted to field first. Batting first, United Cricket Club posted a total of 218 all out in 29.4 overs. Sankalp Prabhu top-scored with a composed 61 runs off 58 balls, while Swapnesh Satarkar added a valuable 44 runs from 27 balls. Rohit Patekar chipped in with 31 runs from 19 balls. For Vijay Cricket Club, Nitin Kalekar and Ramesh Bandi were the pick of the bowlers, each claiming two wickets.
In reply, Vijay Cricket Club were bowled out for just 118 runs in 22 overs. Shailesh Redkar was the top scorer for his team with 28 runs off 20 balls, while Nitin Kalekar contributed 23 runs from 24 balls.
United Cricket Club's Akash Parab was the standout bowler, claiming 3 wickets for just 10 runs from 5 overs. Mahendra Kopandekar and Felix Dias also impressed, taking 2 wickets each.
