Navelim Sporting Club advanced to the quarterfinals of the 34th Curtorim Panchayat Cup, organised by Curtorim Gymkhana, after defeating Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda 8-7 via the tie-breaker at the Curtorim Church Ground.
Samuel D'Souza gave Navelim an early lead, scoring in the first minute. Fatorda responded through Jeff Baretto in the 24th minute to level the score.
Navelim regained the advantage in the 33rd minute when Julius Ferrao found the net, before D'Souza struck again in the 55th minute to make it 3-1.
Don Bosco Oratory fought back and Judson Soares reduced the deficit in the 66th minute before eventually levelling the contest.
The match was decided by a tie-breaker, with Travis Souza, Sherlok Dias, Samuel D'Souza, Velon Rebello and Aden Pereira converting for Navelim.
Alfred Noronha, Joston Dias, Hanslum Furtado and Judson Soares scored from the spot for Fatorda.
On Monday, Guardian Angel Sports Club stormed into the quarterfinals with a convincing 3-0 victory over Maina Sports Club.
Maina missed a golden opportunity to take the lead in the 10th minute, while both sides went into the break without finding the net.
Guardian Angel stepped up the pressure after the restart and broke the deadlock in the 40th minute through Reagan Costa, who unleashed a powerful strike.
They doubled their advantage in the 51st minute when Norman Dias dribbled past Maina defender Edwin Sequeira before finding the net.
Royston Costa completed the scoring in the 55th minute to seal a comfortable win for Guardian Angel.
Friezer Gomes of Guardian Angel was adjudged Man of the Match. Gerson Borges was the chief guest, while Josico Rebello was the guest of honour.
