Footballers in Assolna village have been unhappy with SAG Ground, Assolna for reasons - the big bushes and the poor condition of the football pitch for quite a long time and football being prioritised over the field events.
According to the villagers the bushes were seen all over the ground and were lying neglected for years.
Earlier, The Goan had done several stories highlighting the poor condition of the ground and how the ground was wallowing in neglect, while it carried a report on the plans to develop the ground. With no help forthcoming from Sports Authority of Goa to undertake the cutting of bushes, the villagers have undertaken the work of cutting grass from their own pockets.
When contacted, Rajesh Naik, Stadium Manager of Nehru Stadium and incharge of Assolna said the government seized the matter and within three days his department will take up the case in cutting the bushes.
