Panjim Footballers Sports Club came twice from a goal down to hold Goan Football Club 2-2 in a Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium on Sunday.
Goan FC coach Clifford Miranda had the liberty to field almost the same squad as last year, with the addition of three ISL players -- Liston Colaco, Jonathan Cardozo, Princeton Rebello and two Dempo players -- Kapil Hoble and Nester Dias.
In the 11th minute, Liston Colaco dribbled past a Panjim defender and drilled a low shot which was pushed by keeper Sherwin Da Cunha and the ball rebounded into play after striking the goal post, which was cleared by the defender.
Panjim Footballers received a life line in the 18th minute, after referee Premanand Mandrekar overlooked an ugly tackle by Panjim defender Prasil Kankonkar on Kingslee Fernandes inside the penalty box.
Another glorious chance went in vain for the Young Gaurs in the 22nd minute when midfielder Nester Dias sent a long cross from the left flank to an unmarked Liston Colaco, who got hold of the ball and unleashed a stiff grounder which was blocked by keeper Sherwin.
In the 39th minute, Lalawmpuia dribbled past two of the Panjim defenders and unlatched a left footer from an acute angle which hit the far post before entering the goal to make it 1-0. Crossing over, Panjim Footballers pulled one back through Snedden Rodrigues to make it 1-1. Soon, Imran Khan sent a deadly cross at the far post to an unmarked Liston Colaco, whose tap at the goal was blocked by keeper Sherwin, but Liston managed to score off the rebound to make it 2-1. In the 77th minute, Panjim’s Snedden equalised with a brilliant placement to make it 2-2.
