Sesa Football Academy scored a comfortable 2-0 win over Panjim Footballers in the Goa Football Association Goa Professional League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Thursday.
Kunal Salgaonkar and Clencio Pinto scored a goal each to secure full points for the winning side. Sesa FA moved to sixth position with eight points after five games while Panjim Footballers are in seventh position with eight points but have played a game more than the academy side.
Sesa FA had many chances throughout the game, however, they were either denied by brilliant goalkeeping by Panjim’s Preston Rego or the goalpost. After much probing, Sesa FA broke the deadlock in the 20th minute when Shridhartnath Gawas sent in a dangerous ball in the area, where Kunal Salgaonkar brilliantly placed the ball over the keeper into the goal to give his side the much-deserving lead.
Sesa had many more chances created where Aryan Salunke saw one of his few attempts which beat the keeper, being denied by the crossbar. Later Aman Rajbhar had an attempt on goal, where Panjim’s Preston Rego was equal to the task diving full stretch to his left, pushing it for a corner.
Sesa FA’s Clencio Pinto, who was introduced in the game in the 46th minute ensured a goal to his name scoring in the 88th minute to seal full points for his team. A long ball over the Panjim last line, saw Clencio getting the better of Akash Banavalikar. Clencio controlled the ball and placed it past Preston, who couldn’t do much this time to save his team.
