Sachin, Rizma emerge best in State athletics, RCC Fatorda top team
RCC Fatorda clinched the overall team championship at the 50th state athletics championship, conducted by the Goa Athletic Association at Bambolim Athletics Stadium on Friday and Saturday. SAI-RCC Peddem emerged runners-up.

Sachin Kumar and Rizma Fernandes were declared the best athlete in boys and girls categories respectively. Sachin of Fatorda produced the top long-jump effort, measuring 6.47m, while his team-mate Rizma, clocked 12.55 seconds in the 100m run. RCC Campal were the champions in the U-20 girls competition while RCC Fatorda picked up the team championship in the U-20 boys section. In the U-18 segment, RCC Fatorda bagged top honours in boys contest, while SAI-RCC Peddem were the team champions in the girls event. SAI-RCC Peddem won the team championship in the boys and girls under-16 category. With the 36th National Games to be held in Goa next year, the focus is now on scouting the prospective state team for the premier national championship. The spotlight is on the athletes between 16-20 age-group, besides the men and women's events.
Cuncolim Union prevailed over Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim 6-5 via tiebreaker to storm into the semi-finals of All Goa Late Jose Bento Memorial inter village football tournament organised by Navelim Villagers Union at Rosary Ground, Navelim on Saturday.
