Scindia Saundatikar scored a 30th-minute free kick to help Albert Developers score a narrow 1-0 win over holders Panjim Footballers in the GFA Vendanta Women’s League 2018-2019 organised by Goa Football Association, played under floodlights at Duler grounds on Sunday.
Panjim Footballers held the upper hand in the match but their opponents went into the breather with a one-goal lead. In the very 8th minute, Karishma Shirvoikar moved dangerously into the box and unleashed a low shot which was well kept out by Albert Developers keeper
Annette Da Costa.
Minutes later, Karishma was thwarted by Albert Developers keeper in a one-to-one situation. Albert Developers, who were on the back foot for the entire first half, took the lead before half time when Scindia Saundatikar’s 20-yard free kick found the back
of the nets.
Trailing by a goal, Panjim Footballers went all out in search of a leveller in the second half but found it difficult to get past Albert Developers keeper Annette Da Costa, who made some smart saves. The best chance for Panjim Footballers came in the 65th minute, when a 30-yard free kick by Sujita Murgaonkar was brilliantly saved by Albert keeper Annette, who moved forward to collect the low ball. Scindia Saundatikar won the Player of the match award for a fine performance.
