Tudal High School, Gaondongrim won the Canacona taluka Dilip Sardesai Trophy U-16 inter school cricket tournament by defeating Nirakar High School by 44 runs.
The tournament, organised by Goa Cricket Association, was played at Nirakar Sports Complex, Mashem, Loliem. In the final, Tudal won the toss and elected to bat first. Tudal openers Aryan Gaonkar (41) and Kalpesh Velip (24) put on a 70-run partnership to help the team set a 139-run target in the 20-over game. Vishvesh Devidas contributed 20 runs, while Nirakar bowlers conceded 38 extras. Nirakar’s Shubham Vernekar scalped three wickets, Udit Mulgaonkar took two wickets while Deep Desai took one wicket.
In reply, Deep Desai (34) and Samprabh Phaldesai’s (15) partnership of 48 runs was not enough to help Nirakar HS, Maxem to reach the target and they were bundled out for 95 in 18.4 overs. Good bowling spells of Prathamesh Chari (16-3) and Ashish Gaonkar (16-3) reined in the Nirakar batsmen. Kalpesh Velip took one wicket.
