Uguem Rising advance into last 8

Uguem's Rising Club produced a solid, spirited performance to blank Fr Agnel Youth Sports Club, Paroda 2-0 to advance into the quarter-finals of All Goa 9th Cuncolim Union Trophy inter village football tournament organised by Cuncolim Union at Government Village School Playground, Cuncolim on Thursday. Uguem's Rising Club led 1-0 at the breather.
Rising Club started in dominant fashion and opened the scoring when Allister D'Souza found the back of the net in the 19th minute with a power-packed shot. Stung by the early reversal, Fr Agnel Youth Sports Club regrouped quickly and nearly levelled the scores but striker Lester Menezes's snap shot hit the crossbar much to the dismay of Paroda supporters.
After switching ends, Uguem's Rising Club dominated the proceedings but their forwards were off target. But Elitio Gomes put the issue beyond doubt in the 41st minute when he punished the rival goalkeeper with a neat finish.
Goa Velha win
Goa Velha Sports Club prevailed over Navelim Sporting Club 3-1 via tie-breaker to storm into the quarter-finals of All Goa 18th Bro Eulalio Vaz memorial inter village football tournament organised by Don Bosco Oratory at Don Bosco Engineering ground, Fatorda on Thursday.
In the tie-breaker, Goa Velha netted through Pravin, Sairaj and Anthony, while only Anil Shivolkar scored for Navelim Sporting Club.

Goa beat Chhattisgarh in BCCI League

Goa got off to a winning start in the senior women's one-dayers league with a two-wicket triumph over Chhattisgarh in ‘Plate Group C' in Kolkata on Wednesday. Captain Shikha Pandey led from the front with a four-wicket haul and an important contribution with the bat in a low-scoring match, after winning the toss and electing to field.

PANAJIChasing the target of 105 runs, Goa seemed to be struggling all the way with the bat as they lost wickets at regular intervals. However, a crucial knock by Vanita Bhandari (18 not out off 38 balls) and her 25-run stand for the 8th wicket, with Bharati Gaonkar, who was the top-scorer with 22 runs, gave Goa the confidence to go on to win the match.
