Umar Shaikh stunned top seed Sparsh Kolwalkar 21-6, 21-16, while rising Ponda talent Ateendra Gaonkar edged out Atharv Sadaye in a gripping 21-17, 14-21, 23-21 battle to reach the Boys U15 Singles final at the State Sub Junior (U15 & U17) Badminton Ranking Tournament, organised by Radiant Sports Club in aegis with the Goa Badminton Association at the Indoor Stadium, Ponda.
In the Boys U17 category, top seed Advait Balakrishnan defeated Sudhanva Udupa 21-14, 21-12 and will face Aarush Pawaskar, who overcame Devansh Sakpal 21-17, 18-21, 21-12 in a closely fought semifinal.
In Girls U15 Singles, top seed Dimple Revankar got the better of Anaya Kamat 21-19, 21-7 to book her place in the final, where she will face Niharika Parwar, who overcame a strong challenge from fourth seed Pragya Audi to win 21-19, 21-23, 21-12. The Girls U17 Singles final will be a top-seed clash between Shivanjali Thite, who edged out Saanvi Audi 21-19, 21-19, and Ritika Chelluri, who overcame Sufiya Shaikh 21-10, 21-19. In Girls Doubles U17, Shivanjali and Sufiya defeated Aakanksha Rana and Gauravi Bodekar 21-3, 21-13, while Dimple and Ritika beat Jewel Abranches and Sampurna Patra (2) 21-14, 21-9.
In Boys U15 Doubles, Arnav Saraf and Sparsh Kolwalkar will take on Atharv Sadaye and Shaan Cherkala in the final.
