Perpetual Convent High School, Navelim secured a convincing 5-0 victory over Bethany Convent High School, Sao Jose De Areal to claim the U17 title in the Founders Cup 2024, organised by the Union of Chinchinim Villagers, at Chinchinim Church ground.
Perpetual Convent wasted no time asserting their dominance. Taufique Gundar opened the scoring in the eighth minute, followed by a goal from Vernon Cardozo in the 17th minute. Amron Fernandes then delivered a one-two punch with two quick goals in the 24th and 25th minutes, putting Perpetual Convent in a commanding 4-0 lead at halftime.
Bethany Convent fought valiantly in the second half but were unable to penetrate Perpetual Convent's resolute defense. Taufique Gundar sealed the win for Perpetual Convent with his second goal in the 60th minute.
Christian Roldan, Sports Director, The Kings Sports Academy was the chief guest and gave away the awards in the presence of Mario Furtado, Son of UCV Founder Late Joe Meny Furtado, Somnath Kamat, Brother of Founder member Late Anil Kamat, Rev. Fr. Christopher Fernandes, Asst. Parish Priest Chinchinim Church, Valentino Barretto, Sarpanch V.P Chinchinim and other dignitaries.
