Interested teams can take part in this prestigious tournament and the winners will be awarded Rs 15,000 while runners-up will walk away with Rs 10,000. Pogo Boys Merces football from August 5
PANAJI: Pogo Boys Merces will be organising their All Goa Fifth 50+ seven-a-side Veterans and tenth edition of their inter-ward seven-a-side football at the Merces Church Ground, next month. For the first time-ever, the winners of the veterans’ competition stand to pocket a whopping Rs 1,20,000 in prize money, while the runners-up will take home Rs 70,000. The entry fee for veterans is Rs 7,000 per team. Bardez XI won the tournament in the inaugural year, while Bruno Coutinho-led Calangute Veterans are the defending champions having won the event three years on the trot. Both, the veterans and the inter-ward tournaments will kick-off on August 5 and both finals will be played to commemorate the harvest festival, on August 24. The finals will be followed by a grand musical show by Lawry Travasso and his troupe. Last date for receiving entries is August 1.
