Aditya Iyengar of Mumbai won the three-day 17th All India Open Scrabble Championship held in St Inez, Panaji that concluded on Sunday.
The tournament spanning 24 games had 36 wordsmiths from across the country battling for supremacy. Iyengar claimed top honours with 18 wins and a spread of +1947.
Ishika Shilvalingaiah (Bengaluru) had to be content with a second-place finish with 17 wins and a spread of +795. Prodigious junior player Madhav Gopal Kamath (Delhi) and seasoned Udayan Grover (Pune) both had 16 wins, but Kamath edged Grover to third place with a spread of +1127 against Grover's +1120.
Goa's Douglas Lobo came fifth with 15 wins and a spread of +906.
