Mandopa SC defeated SCC Cavelossim in the GFA First Division League at Rosary Ground, Navelim on Sunday.
Mark Gomes scored the lone goal for Mandopa SC in the 45+2 minute. In the second half, both teams created many chances but failed to shoot the ball into the net.
Meanwhile, Clube Sao Miguel De Taleigao beat Goa Police SC 2-1 at Guirim Ground. Niyaz Tambak opened the scoring for Clube Sao Miguel De Taleigao in the 33rd minute. He soon doubled the score in the 38th minute for the Taleigao side, 2-0. In the second half, Niraj D'mello reduced the deficit for Goa Police, scoring in the 59th minute.
CAC Cansaulim slam 5 past Goa Velha
CAC Cansaulim blanked Goa Velha SC 5-0 and moved into the quarterfinals of the Our Lady of Assumpta Cup football at Church Ground, Chinchinim on Friday.
Goa Velha netted a brace through Selwin Soares who scored in the 46th and 59th minutes. Agnelo D'Souza then netted a hat-trick, striking in the 62nd, 68th and 90th minutes, to secure a resounding win and progress into the last-eight.
Vidya Prabodhini HSS win U-19 boys boxing title
Vidya Prabodhini HSS, Porvorim won the State level U-19 boys boxing tournament at Multipurpose indoor boxing court, Peddem Sports Complex recently.
Vidya Prabodhini scored 13 points with two gold and one silver. The runners-up position was bagged by two teams, Shree Ganesh HSS, Ganeshpuri and Govt Multipurpose HSS, Borda with an identical five points ( one gold medal). Vidya Prabodhini's Sahil Makandar and Shriniwas Lamani won a gold medal while Yuvraj Chawan clinched a silver.
All India chess tourney from April 29
Unity Club Margao in association with Salcete Tauka Chess Association will organise the 1st Unity Club All India Open Fide Rapid Rating Chess Tournament 2023 on April 29 & 30 at Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium, Navelim.
The tournament carries prize money of Rs 1,55,000 and 95 trophies will be awarded in different categories. The first prize winner will earn Rs 30,000 and a trophy, the second prize will fetch Rs. 20,000 and the third prize carries a prize money of Rs 10,000. A total of 20 prizes will be given in the open category. In each rating category of 1601-1900, 1301-1600, 1000-1300 and unrated category, there are prizes for the winners of first (Rs 2,500), second (Rs 2000) and third (Rs 1000) place, plus trophies.
