MARGAO
The Sao Joao festival was traditionally celebrated at Benaulim's St John the Baptist ground with a match between the Married and the Bachelors, which the Bachelors won 3-2.
The game began with both teams trying to dominate each other and finally, the deadlock was broken when Nicholas - a former national player - scored for the Married. The Married led 1-0 at halftime. Bachelors pulled their socks up and scored through Claudson Goes to take the lead.
Stancer equalised for the Married. The game was on an even keel until Clive scored the winner for the Bachelors in the dying minutes to take home the trophy. Lawry Crasto was the chief guest and presented the trophy along with other dignitaries. The event was organised by Manoj Kesarkar and Rocky Goes.
