PANAJI
Defending champions GVM's AJ De Almeida High School won the 11th SRS Ponda Taluka School Chess Championship, scoring 9 points. The tournament was organised by SRS Vedic Mathematics Academy, Mangeshi in association with Ponda Taluka Chess Association (PTCA) at Wagle High School, Mangeshi. Eighteen schools participated in the tournament with four players representing each school.
GVM's Utkarsh Vidyamandir and Smt IVBD High School scored 8 pts each. GVM's Utkarsh Vidyamandir secured 2nd place based on tie-break and Smt IVBD High School settled for 3rd place. Dr K.B. Hedgewar High School, GVM's MIBK High School and Vidhya Vruddhi School secured 4th to 6th places respectively.
Trophies and certificates were distributed by Sagar Sakordekar (Founder, Vedic Mathematics Academy and PTCA President), Amogh Namshiker (Arbiter and PTCA Secretary), Anand Kurtikar (Arbiter and PTCA Executive member), Mitasha Aigal (Headmistress, Wagle High School) and Sandesh Naik (Jt. Secretary, PTCA). Radha Sakordekar compered and proposed a vote of thanks.
Swastik Vidyalay, Priol, Surashree Kesarbai Kerkar High School, Shree Mahalaxmi English High School, International Sadguru Gurukulam, Shiksha Sadan HS, VD & SV Wagle HS, Jamiya E Maqbuliya HS, GVM's RPRS HS, Dada Vaidya HS, Gananath English HS, Gurukul Academy and Smt Anandibai Naik HS were other schools which participated in the tournament.
