MARGAO: Chandor Club secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Goa Velha Sports Club to advance to the quarter-finals of the 23rd Bro. Eulalio Vas Memorial Football Tournament, organized by Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda, on Thursday.

The match started with Chandor Club taking an early lead in the 7th minute, thanks to Alerich Peixeto, who skillfully placed the ball past the goalkeeper. The score remained 1-0 in favor of Chandor at halftime.

In the second half, Peixeto struck again in the 41st minute after receiving a precise pass from Vitorino Fernandes, extending Chandor's lead to 2-0. However, Goa Velha quickly responded, with Shubam Vernekar scoring a powerful header in the 48th minute to bring the score to 2-1.

Despite their resurgence, Goa Velha missed a crucial opportunity in the 52nd minute when Yogendra Thapa's shot went straight into the arms of Chandor goalkeeper Presley Mascarenhas.

As the match approached its final stages, Chandor Club secured their victory when Cajitan Fernandes tapped the ball into an open net, making it 3-1.

Alerich Peixeto's impressive performance earned him the Man of the Match award, presented by Vincent Barbosa of DBO Fatorda.
