Churchill Brothers FC Goa and Guardian Angel SC played out a goalless draw in the GFA President's Relegation League match at Chowgule Artificial turf ground on Wednesday.
In the first half, Churchill Brothers defender Keenan Almeida and Sadik Shaikh defended well while for Guardian Angel, Rosario Mendes guarded the defence well in the first half. Under-20 player Joywin Cardozo of Guardian Angel took control of the ball from Yunal Fernandes and sent a powerful shot but it was saved by Subhajit Bhattacharjee, the goalkeeper of Churchill Brothers in the third minute. Then Churchill Brothers' Tippanna Shantappa's shot was saved by Royal Moniz, the goalkeeper of Guardian Angel in the 16th minute. Yunal Fernandes' move was foiled by Keenan Almeida of Churchill brothers in the 20th minute.
Jovel Martins should have netted for Churchill in the 36th minute but the Guardian Angel goalkeeper Royal Moniz pushed the ball away at Clencio Pinto, the lurking striker of Churchill Brothers. The latter's shot was saved by the Guardian Angel goalkeeper.
As the match progressed in the second half, Churchill Brothers dominated but missed chances to score through Clencio Pinto and Tippana Shantappa, while for Guardian Angel, substitute Nicholas Rodrigues and Johnson Horta missed chances.
In another match at Duler ground, Calangute Association defeated Velsao Sports and Cultural Club 1-0. Moses D'Sa netted the match winner for Calangute Association in the 94th minute.
