MARGAO: Compassion FC thrashed Vintage 73 9-0 and went on to lift the Khelo India Women’s U-15 Goa title with 12 points followed closely by Union of Chinchinim Villagers as runners up with 9 points.
Earlier, Compassion FC had qualified for the Super League as champions of the South Goa league and UCV followed in the same fashion. The last year’s winners of the Khelo India women’s U-17 and GFA’s Women U-14 once again proved their supremacy in the age group women tournaments in Goa.
There were three top scorer’s in the league with Moncy Vaz of Compassion FC, Valaina Fernandes and Acira Fernandes both of Union of Chinchinim Villager’s scoring 24 goals each.
Compassion FC had started the league in the season with Pearl Fernandes who is presently with the Indian national women’s U-16 team playing in Nepal in the SAFF football tournament missed her services through out the tournament because of her national commitment.
Dr. Caetano Fernandes, GFA President was the chief guest for the final league match. Laxman Hadfadkar Executive Committee member of GFA, along with Maymol Rocky, Oswald and Astrid of the GFA Women’s Committee were present for the game.
The other Super League teams that followed Compassion FC and Union of Chinchinim Villager’s were Vintage followed by Dunes FC and San Minguel de Taleigao in that order.
