Dempo fail to capitalise against 10-man FC Bengaluru United

Jerry Pulamate hit the lone goal of the game as 10-man FC Bengaluru United handed 1-0 defeat to Dempo SC in the I League 2, at Ella ground, Old Goa, on Saturday.

Dempo started the game on an attacking note in the first 10 minutes. FC Bengalaru United took the reins once they struck the rhythm. Both the teams adopted a safe approach however,the visiting team enjoyed an edge over the hosts.

Dempo nearly struck a goal when Rahul Kumar and Seigoumang Doungel were the culprits as they squandered the easiest of chances with Bengalaru goalkeeper Vishal Jonn.

Midway in the opening session, FC Bengaluru United forwards Jerry Pulamate and Yash Mhatri tested the Dempo goalkeeper from a distance. The scores remained 0-0 going into the break.

The second half, belonged to Dempo as they enjoyed better ball possession.

Dempo grew in confidence and threatened the rival goal but their forwards ran out of ideas after reaching the rival danger zone and surrendered the opportunity.

FC Bengaluru United's defender and captain Ahmed Faiz Khan was ejected by referee Ajay Krishnan as he cautioned with a second yellow card in the 50th minute as they were reduced to 10-men.

At the other end, Dempo failed to utilise the numerical advantage as Jerry Pulamate this time beat the goalkeeper in the 65th minute off a through pass from his colleague. Dempo made several substitutions in search of an equaliser but yielded no dividends.

FC Bengaluru FC United topped with 6 points while Dempo suffered their first defeat and just a point.
