Parish Youth Nuvem emerged victorious against hosts Uguem Rising Club, winning the 20th edition of the Inter Village Football Tournament with a narrow 1-0 scoreline.
The match, held at the URC ground in Uguem, drew a large and enthusiastic festive crowd that witnessed an intense and fast-paced game from start to finish.
The decisive moment came in the 35th minute when Francisco Colaco scored the only goal of the match, securing the victory for Nuvem. Despite their efforts, Uguem Rising were unable to capitalise on a close chance just before halftime, as the shot hit the goal post and rebounded away.
As champions, Parish Youth Nuvem received a cash prize of Rs 65,000 and the winners' trophy, while Uguem Rising Club took home Rs 45,000 and a trophy for their runner-up position. Additionally, Navelim Youth Sports Club were honoured with the Best Disciplined Team award, presented by Adv Pratima Coutinho.
At the concluding function, GPCC President Amit Patkar was the Chief Guest, with Adv Pratima Coutinho and Fr Ivo Fernandes as guests of honour. Social activists Anthony Silva and Rama Kankonkar were also present as special invitees.
