Fredsan Marshal of Neura emerged as the winner of the 52nd All Goa Cycle Race for men, clocking an impressive time of 37:22:04 in a thrilling finish, organised by Guirdolim Club in association with Sudesh Bhise on Republic Day.
Fredsan edged out Derwyn Viegas of Chinchinim, who finished a close second with a timing of 37:22:06, while Mark Jose Fernandes of Loutolim secured third place, clocking 37:22:07. The race witnessed a dramatic photo finish, with just fractions of a second separating the top three cyclists.
In the ladies’ category, Angie Fernandes of Panjim regained the title by finishing first, while Blanche Themudo took second place.
In the college category, Ashwel Fernandes of Fr Agnelo College, Pilar, claimed first place, with Abel Menezes finishing second. Rohit Chavan emerged winner, followed by Yash Bharat Patil in second place in the junior category.
A total of 51 cyclists participated across various categories. The race commenced at Guirdolim and passed through Macasana, Curtorim, Maina, up to Chowgule College, before returning via Maina, Curtorim and Agxem back to Guirdolim. The junior category followed a shorter route.
The prizes were distributed in the presence of the Chief Guest Rajesh B. Naik, Additional Director of Transport, along with Sudesh Bhise, Panch Franky Rodriguez, Ballu Nistani and other dignitaries.
